hey hey hey hey!
It was a beautiful weekend. I left Friday at 6 with a bus from a local concert venue and took the trip to the pinkpop festival.

We arrived around 8 and set up our tent at a crew camp sight. Then Melanie and I went to sign in and cross our selfs from the list. The desk where we'd get our wristbands was hidden pretty well and we asked several people but none of them knew. great co-operation between different crew positions, thank you very much. We basically walked trough the entire terrain but we found it behind some sports hall and got the bands and a very ugly, much too big purple crew shirt.

Then we went back to the camp sight and had something to eat and drink with the rest of our friends. We were sleeping right next to a bird garden. You expect birds to sleep at night but let me tell you, peacocks DO NOT! So trough thou the entire time we heard "WHUUUUHAAAAAAA WHUUUUHAAAAAAAA!" These idiots responded to it by making the same sounds back at them.

Melanie and I slept in a very small tent, on hard floor mats in our clothes. Hurray for camping! :|
But on Saturday morning we got up at 6 and went right back to bed at 8, slept until 10, when the sun literally burned us out of our tent. We ate breakfast. I drank some yogurt peach drink and we got dressed. The terrain would be opened at 1 and the first performance would be at 3 so the waiting started.

We strolled around and tried to sneak in early but security stopped us and told us that only staff who were working that day could go in trough the press and artist entrance. So we went to the normal gates and waited in line. There were a whole bunch of older people because everyone was there to see Bruce that day. Everyone wore something Bruce related and people carried signs and cardboard plates.

The gates opened and everyone pushed forward. It seriously is the ONLY time I can stand a crowd and people rushing. I'm excited myself so the adrenaline stops my "DONT YOU TOUCH ME" feelings. I was checked and double checked for weapons. Apparently I look like I carry stuff around. They checked the collar of my shirt, my socks, my chest and jean pockets. They also searched my backpack for food and drinks. Didn't take anything. I did bring some bread and cheese.

Melanie and I ran down the hill screaming and hugging. We immediately searched and concurred a spot right in front of the stage. I was like: if I'm gonna see my band I'm gonna do this right!! We had another girl with us, Leonie, and she was so sweet to get drinks every now and then. We sat between all these Bruce fans, while The Killers fans had to stand in the back. Seriously I had never seen that man or heard more than two songs and there I was already starting to hate his fans. My oh my are they pushy and greedy.

I told them, I'm here for The Killers. They told me: that's because you never seen Bruce before. I told them back that I had never seen The Killers before either and I didn't care if they took my stop after TK was done. The worst were those 4 old Bruce veterans handing over the fence. This couple in front of us asked them if I could stand in their place during The Killers show but his response was: you have to take and give in life and today i take. :|

Dude! The other people were friendly couples, one nagging lady who complained that I was too tall so I should go stand in the back and not in front of her. Lady, again, I AM HERE FOR MY BABIES, NOT BRUCY! I really don't care! Jeez, easy up and get that stick out of your behinds.

There was also this hippy lady with a bunch of kids, apparently hers. She goes to all the festivals and takes them along. She had this little girl, who was 11, and she told us that they always stand first row. Hmm ok, how nice for your kids but be a parent sometimes. Bleh.
But she was nice, during the show she let Melanie hold her girl around the waist by the fence, so Mel could stand closer and see it better. :)

So first we had Cris Cornell. He's such a show off. Ripped jeans, white shirt, leather jacket and long rock hair. It was pretty boring. The last song they played was "black hole sun" and it was the only one I knew. I had a big OOOOOOH is that HIM! moment then. LOL.

Then the wait started. I got more nervous by the second and my stomach was hurling. My legs and hands went cold and I started to shiver with nerves. I ate some sandwiches and tried to relax. Almost an hour and half later The Killers came on. But not before the stage was entirely decorated with palm trees, 4 piano's, a whole range of guitars, white roses, Brandon his little k (no not the drugs but the thing with the light bulbs that has the piano behind it.)
Everyone started to yell when (I think it was Jeremy....roadie) started to tune Dave's guitars.

There was another guy high up in the lights, changing a chord. Finally the Cris Cornell curtain was taken down and a zebra print one was raised. Again everyone clapped. Then everyone but Jeremy left the stage and he sat on the right side as the camera guy started to film the audience, projecting it on the big screens. People laughed and waved at them selfs. Thank God they didn't tape me, I would have ducked. Jeremy smiled during this little scene and then everyone started clapping, the music started and lasted for what felt like 5 hours until the band came on. They were introduced on the screen, how they walked from the backstage area on to the stage.

Loud cheering and yelling came from every were. People were way more excited during this show than during Chris'.

Finally they came on and I just lost it. It was surreal. I watched a clip on youtube and again it felt as if I were there seeing it. Brandon smiled at us and did his little bend in toward the audience. They all looked uber cool. Ronnie in white, Dave in black, very very very very tight jeans and his zebra/tiger vest, Mark in jeans, white shirt and black sleeveless vest and Brandon in black, wearing his feather jacket.

They started with Human. I love this song live. I do i do. It's so good.
Then, not in this order but, they played:

-Shadowplay
-Jenny was a friend of mine (kicked and screamed version :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD )
-Sams Town (ACCOUSTIC!!!!!!!!! Shivers down my spine)
Brandon sat behind this glittery silver piano and started out solo.
Then the rest of the band fell in and guh it was just amazing.
So amazing that people actually kept they faces shut.
-Mr Brightside
-Smile like you mean it <3333
-For Reasons Unknown IZ DED
Seeing Brandon handle that bass.....in real life....Rrrrr.
-Somebody told me
-All these things
He got the crowd yelling "I GOT SOUL BUT I'M NOT A SOLDIER" though maybe that was me being that loud. He stood on one of the amp, light boxes (of course killers style, made of old wood)
doing the thing with the micstand.
-When you were young
-Bling
-read my mind
-Bones
(introduced by Brandon looking at the sky, raising his hands, looking at the crowd, saying bhoohooohoones with a shaky voice, LOL)
-loosing touch
-Spaceman
(THIS SONG IS WAY WAY OUT THERE!!! Lol yes you silly little retard, we love you)
-A dustland fairytale
That one was super cute. Brandon was squeezing his eyes shut, looking all serious and focused, shacking a little, being really passionate about it all.

I was a little scared at times though because it looked as if he was going to faint, maybe that's normal though. He blinked his eyes, whiped his face dry and shook his head.

There was also a little boylove when he walked up behind Dave and bumped forward to which Dave swung his guitar up, giving us a ~good~ view, and smiled.
Also, Ronnie...I love Ronnie even more now. He still had that half handlebar coming up and he looked very rough and manly. *grins*

Even Mark looked better than he does on pictures. He danced a bit and was pretty happy to be there. He looked right at me a couple of times LOL. With his usual :| stare.
I don't know what the matter is with Mr Keuning though, he was a bit dull. Not moving a lot, staring in front of him, playing the guitar.

After all that, Leonie and I left, because we were starving and thirsty and very tired. I told Melanie to stay because she had a great spot for Bruce and she really wanted to see him. So i forced her to stay there. We strolled around, grabbed a pizza and laid in the grass, watching the show. We just got back from the merch stands when I heard Bruce say "killers" then i heard Brandon and pushed myself trough the crowd.

I cursed myself a little for leaving but then again, he was there for only 3 minutes and hey, I was there and saw it :D so I was pretty happy anyway.

There was one very lucky girl, she had a sign that said: "dutch Courtney cox" (she got famous because Bruce pulled her on stage in his video) and when Bruce saw her during dancing in the dark it he walked up to her and pulled her on stage. WOW!

LOL when we were back at the tent, Mel said: "you know, i think I'm a little bit in love....with the butt of that guitar player, Dave...whooohaa!"

I'll write more tomorrow....so TBC!

here's some pics:

The tent! Knowing I would see such great bands made me survive sleeping here.

Now this was wonderfull. We climbed some stairs (400 meters) and got a view from the top. The very bright lights is where the festival is.

THIS SOUNDS LIKE SO MUCH FUN. Omg I love how you got to camp out and everything. So amazing. I wouldn't have been able to sleep haha.

lol I love "Black Hole Sun." And I know that feeling of getting super nervous before a show all too well.

That setlist is incredible. Wow. And your pictures are great! The crowd is huuuuuuuuuuuge.

It was hard to fall asleep and stay asleep. The floor was sooooooo hard. D:

LOL I love that song too, but srsly his show was pretty boring.
I kinda like that feeling but on the other hand I hate it. It's a love hate thing I have with going to gigs.

Yes the setlist was sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet. Brandon and all of them were having a good time so it seemed. I think Dave was stoned though LOL. They came from Amsterdam and well we all know what goes on there. LOL. IDK.

*mwah!*

I don't envy you the sleep in a tent. I am so not a tent person. I want a bed and room service. At least a flushing toliet and a door with a lock. LOL Glad it was worth sleeping on the ground.
Hugs

URG I hate camping. I only did it to see my bands but I would never go camping if it wasn't for a festival. I love my bed.

It's actually the advice Brandon gave to NME magazine when he was asked for camping advice: "don't do it."

I agree!

HUGS!!
