This is the next part of my pinkpop experience.
More pictures ahead and the rest of the story.
After The Killers were done preforming Leonie and i left Melanie and went to search food.
I had the grossest and most expensive pizza slice on earth. 5 bucks for a piece of cold hard dry cheesy bread. Leonie gave me some of her left over pasta.
Then we returned to the festival terrain and lounged in the grass, walking around a little, watched the last song of Elbow. It was pretty damn nice. I found a coca cola hat that says COKE!
I'm going to write head underneath, lol.
Uhm then around 9 Bruce Springsteen started and we just wandered around on the big field. I shot some pictures of the screens, best one(s) will be posted here. There was also a drunk old man in a leather jacket without a shirt that passed out on the grass, who people started to take pictures of. It was funny.
The atmosphere was calm and relaxing. Everyone was friendly and most people were on something, either pot or alcohol. I stayed sober, which was great. We checked out the merch stands, they had this HUGE killers belt buckle. I didn't buy it though, a bit too cheesy and fake/expensive. LOL.
They had ARE WE HUMAN OR ARE WE DANCER shirts too, for 30 bucks. I was like: forget it. I love them but no.
Right after we got back Brandon walked on the stage and I remember walking around with Leonie, I asked her: did he just say Killers? She said: I thought so too, but it's probably because it's all we can think about. Then I heard a high pitched shaky voice and pushed myself trough the crowd. Melanie told me that she jumped like a crazy person, pissing off this old guy because she pushed him over a few times. LOL.
The gig was over around midnight. Leonie and I waited for Mel but there were too many people rushing out at once that we didn't find her back. We did find Veronique, who was super trashed and decided that we'd go to some after party with her. I really didn't feel like it though so when we were at the door I told them goodnight and returned to the tent. Thank heavens I found Marloes and Melanie there so I wasn't all alone. We went to bed by 1 and I slept pretty well.
The next day, we saw Madness. A ska band. They look like a barbershop quartet. While we waited for the show to start I saw a bunch of skinheads enter the scene. And by skinheads I mean the original skinheads, before those stupid Nazi's picked up the style and abused it.
I was like: who's this Madness band?
They walked on stage and the guy said (who was btw in his 40thies): I wanna see people move! Then they started to play and the entire crowd started to jump and bump into one another. I got the air pushed out of my lungs and my organs swirled around in the crowd so I looked behind me and yelled to Melanie and Marloes that I was gonna back off where people stood still.
I can't really enjoy that sort of thing, especially not when i don't expect it. LOL.
I did know some of their songs and we danced for a bit. Then, we saw two dutch bands.
One's called De Staat. Veronique is the lover of the singer. We tease her a lot with that. LOL. He's called Torre and we jokingly call him Thorrrr, she really hates that. Veronique's kind of our ultragurlllll. She loves people in bands and hang out with them just to brag about it. She knows the infadels and goes to party with them when they're in Holland. She always manages to get backstage at concerts. She gives them a little pout and wink and she's in. ~chuckles.
The Staat was pretty ok. We chilled in the grass and did a bit of sunbathing.
Then we went to see Kyteman's hiphop orchestra. That was nice too, though i hate hiphop. We left early though, because some fat and aggressive guys pushed them selfs forward. I can't stand that and when someone does that, it's over for me with the fun times. Melanie wanted to see them really bad, but she agreed on leaving, since she'd wanted to see them at a private gig another time. Plus, it was super super hot and humid in the tent stage. Bleg.
Then we ran into Volbeat. A Swedish country rock band. Marloes loves them a lot. We couldn't get very close though and we left our spot when a bunch of drunk men started to push people around to create a mosh pit.
LOL also, at the beginning of our second day, we went trough another gate, for people who worked at the festival. I took a bottle with yogurt drink for breakfast. So this kid feels my backpack and asks me if I took any bottles. I crossed my fingers and said no. She/he found it anyway and took it out. I was like: that's my breakfast food/drink. It replies, well i gotta take it. I ask if i could just drink it right there. "nope, I gotta toss this out right now"
Ok what!?? That's just retarded. So the kid slow walks toward the bin, says:"look, I'm tossing it out, you know?" and slowly and softly sets the bottle down in it. I was beyond pissed. I didn't flip the heck out, it was hard but i didn't. I just got really red saying: YOU HAVE GOT TO BE JOKING ME! The kid walks back and wishes me a nice day. I didn't say anything, just walked away. So I settled for a dry bun with cheese instead. Pfff. I was close to strangling that piece of ****.
Anyway, rest of the day was a big success. Except for Krezip playing instead of Depece Mode. That was so bad. I was really looking forward to that gig, but Dave was recovering from heavy surgery so after trying to book 5 bands (one of them was Marlin Manson) they got Krezip. I can't stand them, to be honest. She's got such a whiny, nagging voice and her songs are just pouring over from the sentiment and cheap lyrics.
We had a funny moment when we waited in line with the placebo fans and the singer said: this is the last song...that Krezip wrote. This guy goes: awwwwwww damnit, feint move! Thought they were done! But then, they were done playing and we rushed a bit to get a good spot.
Placebo was amazing. They rocked my socks off! I been a fan of theirs from when i was 10 or 9 years old so it was super to see them live finally. Guh. Marloes and I screamed along to their songs. They played a couple of new ones but most of them were classics.

After placebo we went back to the camp sight. The next day was Monday and Mel and I had to work from 7 till 7. That was quite hard. Well, mainly because we just sat around and walked around guarding an near empty camp sight. We did drink and eat a lot because it was for free. Plus it was volunteer work we were doing so the pressure wasn't high at all. Plus we got a good tan.
We were done at 7 and grabbed a bite to eat. We found a great Vietnamese food stand so we had our share of eggrols and noodles with hot sauce. We went home at 9 and arrived at our house by 11. It was sweet seeing everyone again and I took a long long shower to wash of the sweat and dirt.
I went to bed by 12/ 1 but was rudely wakened by Bram who got home at 4 with a 15 year old chick and his friend who's always hanging around in our house, peeing over the toilet seat and tapping his ash on the floors. They turned on their music and started to yell and stamp around in the room. I went to ask if they could be quiet but they wouldn't really listen so I went to ask again. When i knocked the door I heard them go: ooooh no, he's back AGAIN, jeez! So his friend goes to open the door and sneers: do we really need to be more quiet??
I looked at him truly pissed off snapping right back: YES YOU REALLY DO!
But if they do this again, I'm calling the entire house on his ass. I mean it. We discussed this yesterday and Gilian, Bas, Danja, Eva, Ronald and Marloes told me to wake them next time.
If he doesn't, we'll take his music installation. *grins*
Well folks, that'd be all.
